IN THE BEGINNING
When Eve refuses to accept why she exists in God’s already perfect world, she chooses knowledge over obedience at the cost of becoming fully human.
In the Beginning tells Eve's - the first woman’s - untold Genesis story and her search for purpose in an already perfect world. Through cosmic family comedy, hand puppets, and heartfelt inquiry, the play explores the world's first heroes under God's infinite power and the human condition.
We are living in a moment when people are re-examining the narratives that shaped our cultures, our identities, and our assumptions about gender. Eve is one of the most iconic women in the collective imagination, yet her unknown experience has been filtered through centuries of interpretation: a cautionary tale, a result of temptation, a blame-bearer.
In the Beginning offers a counter-narrative, one that honors Eve’s humanity and gives audiences a news lens on her story and ours. The play reframes Eve not as the source of sin, but as a symbol of human agency, resilience, and the beginning of our shared story. It examines the first questions that many men and women face across their lives: mortality, insecurity, fertility, mental health, marriage, parenthood, grief, and the search for purpose. It is a message of perseverance during the worst of times and the choice to carry on.
